LEED Platinum Certification
100 Hooper is on track to achieve LEED® Certification at the Platinum level by Q3 of 2019. This certification means we’ve made a commitment to maintaining excellence in our building operations. LEED is an internationally recognized green building certification system that evaluates the design, construction, and operation of green buildings. Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), LEED buildings provide value for tenants because they perform approximately 25% better than average in terms of energy and water consumption. This translates into cost savings on utility bills and equipment repairs, amongst other benefits.
By design 100 Hooper is expected to use 16% less energy and 44% less water than a comparable building of its size.
Kilroy Realty has always used the most advanced green cleaning products and practices in all of our buildings. We are constantly searching for the latest information on green cleaning and update our cleaning services whenever we see and opportunity to further minimize the environmental impact of our custodial practices. 100 Hooper has an excellent Green Cleaning program that addresses energy efficiency, recycling, waste management, water conservation and other sustainable and green cleaning practices.
A higher landfill diversion rate is great for the environment and lowers our refuse bill – a savings that is ultimately passed back to the tenants. 100 Hooper has established a three-stream waste service which includes trash, recycling and compost. With the support and participation of our tenants we plan to maximize the amount of waste diverted from landfill.
